Willisburg Christian Church Core Beliefs

Willisburg Christian is a non-denominational congregation of Christian believers endeavoring to restore the New Testament church as Christ established it. We do not consider ourselves to be the only Christians, but stand on the belief that God desires for us to be Christians only.  What you'll read below is not an exhaustive list of beliefs, but it will give you a solid idea of what we consider to be absolutes.

Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17; Psalm 119:105)

God

We believe in one God, Creator of all, holy, sovereign, eternal, existing in three equal Persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26; John 10:30; Romans 8:14)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus was both fully human and divine and is the Son of the Living God. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross to take our punishment for our sin. He was physically resurrected to offer freedom from eternal death and offer us eternal life. (Isaiah 53; John 10:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8) He is the only way to the Father and forgiveness of sins. (John 14:6) He is returning to complete His work. (John 14:1-3; Revelation 1:7)

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the absolute and essential deity of the Holy Spirit. He convicts people of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. (John 16:11) He regenerates, indwells, seals, sanctifies, edifies and comforts those who believe in Jesus Christ. (John 14:15-17, 26) He is received at baptism and provides His gifts of comfort and ministry to every Christian. (Acts 2:38; Galatians 5:22, 23; Ephesians 1:13, 14)

Humanity

We believe all people were created uniquely by God in His image in order to have a relationship with Him. We believe man and woman have separated themselves from their relationship with God by sinning of their own free-will against Him. They are able to renew this relationship through accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior.

Salvation

We believe that the grace of God saves. (Ephesians 2:8) Each individual receives the free gift of grace by confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior, repenting of their sins, and by being immersed (baptism). (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-5, 10:9; Colossians 2:11, 12)

CHURCH

We believe the church represents the Body of Christ on earth, is empowered by the Holy Spirit, and exists to witness to the lost and edify the saved. (Ephesians 4:1-16)
